The 2011 Rolex Sports Car Series season is the twelfth season of Grand Am's premier series.Continental Tire became the official tire supplier for Grand-Am.[1] The company purchased the naming rights of the RSCS's support series, the Grand Am Cup Series, from KONI in 2010.
The season began with the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 29[2] and will finish with the EMCO Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on September 17.
A notable change is the television coverage. In contrast to 2010, about half of the races will not be televised live. HoweverTRUEONLINETV has made arrangements with the sponsors for online broadcast. This is great news for those who would like to follow this event in real time on their pc.
The Rolex Sports Car Series will be heading to Connecticut for the Memorial Day Classic on May 29th. It happens at Lime Rock Part at 2:00PM Eastern Time. After that, the series goes to Watkins Glen, New York to race on the Watkins Glen International Circuit, June 3rd through the 4th and onto the Road American race in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The previous race run was the Bosch Engineering 250 held at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia and was held May 13th and 14th. The race was won by Barbosa, France and Borcheller for Action Express Racing and Porsche. Then, Pruett and Rojas came in second for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and BMW with Action Express Racing Porsche drivers Donohue and Law coming in third. Angelelli and Taylor were fourth and Doran Racing Ford drivers Frisselle and Richard were fifth.
The Rolex Driver's standings have Memo Rojas tied Scott Pruett for first place with 137 points, while three drivers are tied for third place right now. JC France, Joao Barbosa and Terry Borchelle, each with 115 points. As for the manufacturers, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates is first, Action Express Racing is second and third and SunTrust Racing and GAINSCO are fourth and fifth.
