TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHT : DEL POTRO STOPS SODERLING
Juan Martin del Potro defeated Robin Soderling for the fourth straight time on Friday in a rain-interrupted quarter-final clash at the Estoril Open.
Eighth seed del Potro was leading top seed and World No. 5 Soderling 6-4, 1-4 when torrential rain had both players running for the locker-room. Play was suspended at 3:47 p.m. local time.
Former World No. 4 del Potro, who missed the majority of last year due to a wrist injury, saved all four break points he faced and hit four aces to clinch the 54-minute first set. Soderling won just six points on return of serve.

"I had to really focus, with the rain delay," said del Potro. "I am very happy as I took my opportunities in the second set on return to the court.
"My wrist is almost fine. It is getting better, but when the weather is really humid I can feel something. That is normal the doctors say. I am getting better, quicker than I thought."
Soderling said, "I had good momentum before the rain, I was playing better. I don't think I played much worse after the rain, but he raised his level. The court was slower after the rain, but it wasn't a big difference."
